A Good Day to Die Hard is a 2013 American action film directed by John Moore and written by Skip Woods. It is the fifth installment of the Die Hard film series. Bruce Willis reprises the lead role of John McClane, who travels to Russia to help his estranged son, Jack (Jai Courtney), out of prison, but is soon caught in the crossfire of a terrorist plot.
Talks of a fourth sequel to Die Hard began before the release of Live Free or Die Hard
(2007), with Willis affirming that the latter would not be the last in
the series, but pre-production did not start until September 2011 when
John Moore was officially announced as the director. Filming began in
April 2012, primarily in Budapest, Hungary.

Former police officer and detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) travels to Russia to help his son, Jack (Jai Courtney),
who has been arrested after assassinating Anton (Roman Luknár), a
subordinate of Chagarin (Sergei Kolesnikov), a high-ranking but corrupt
Russian official, who is planning on incriminating political prisoner
and government whistleblower Yuri Komarov (Sebastian Koch)
without a fair trail; he is looking to get hold of a file believed to
be in Komarov's possession. While in court standing trial, an explosion
occurs. Jack breaks free with Komarov. John, who happens to be near the
courthouse at the time, confronts Jack. Their confrontation turns heated
and draws the attention of Chagarin's henchman, Alik (Radivoje Bukvić).
John, Jack and Komarov manage to escape but not with Alik and his gang
chasing after them. John manages to stall some time for Jack and
Komarov. After a neck-to-neck car chase between John and Alik results in
both of their vehicles crashing violently, only John survives
unscathed, while Alik and his crew sustain injuries.
